Today a interesting conversation was taking place in my japanese class. The teacher was talking about steamboat. And the japanese translation for it is nabei ryuri. When she mentioned nabei, some guys were laughing. The teacher was so confused. Then they told her it is a bad word in Singaporean terms. She frantically erased it and apologised for it. It is quite comical to see this kind of situation. This shows the difference in culture in language classes.
